DeWalt have discontinued the DW745, if you can get one, do it! If not, it’s direct replacement is the DWE7485 however that’s now an 8-1/4 inch table saw. If you need a 10-inch table saw then an amazing option is the DeWalt DWE7491RS.

1. It’s compact

To kick this off, this is compact; look, it’s not as small as the DeWalt FlexVolt table saw, but it is one of the most compact portable table saws I’ve used. This is also very portable.

The DeWalt DW745 table saw isn’t as boxy as others; a lot have quite a boxy form factor; this DeWalt table saw doesn’t quite fit that bill, but it still carries around easily enough. Whether hauling this into and out of your truck or setting it up outside, it’s very comfortable to move around.

2. It’s fairly capable.

Don’t let the DeWalt table saw’s small size fool you into thinking that this thing can’t handle decent rips; thanks to an upgrade a few years back, the DeWalt DW745 table saw now has an increased rip capacity.

  • Rip cuts up to 20″ right of the blade
  • 3-1/8″ max cutting depth at 90°
  • 2-1/4″ max cutting depth at 45°
  • 10″ blade size
  • 15A
  • 2-1/2″ dust port
  • Weighs only 45 lbs

I’ll break it to you now; this table saw can’t accept a dado stack. It’s also going to handle huge stacks of full-size sheets of plywood. But, this isn’t what this saw is designed for.

DeWalt states that this table saw now has a 20″ rip capacity and will easily cut a variety of larger shelving and trim materials. Which should give you an idea as to the type of work it’s aimed at.

3. It comes with an amazing fence system.

The rack and pinion fence system includes on the DeWalt DW745 is awesome. This is something that DeWalt has spent a lot of time working on. You can easily adjust the fence on the DeWalt dw745 table saw smoothly and easily but, most importantly, with great accuracy. The user controls and the adjustments made to them are smooth and easy, which makes this a solid user experience.

Cheap tools don’t last or are fraught with problems. Cheap table saws come with common complaints such as poor accuracy or flimsy enclosures and obviously cheap components. You might already have a cheap table saw and think differently, but then you are looking at the DeWalt DW745…

You may be thinking that the DeWalt DW745 table saw is an older model, and you’re right; this thing has been around for some time, but it’s still a current model in DeWalt’s table saw category.

Dewalt table saws keep getting updates, and the DeWalt DW745 table saw is no exception; as I mentioned earlier, this DeWalt table saw has had an upgrade to increase its rip capacity.

4. It’s a great bargain.

This model, the DW745s table saw, comes with a folding stand, which is excellent, portable table saws need to be secured in place, and a folding stand really helps with that.

Add to that, that it’s an excellent price, offering excellent value.

5. It’s reliable

Of all the portable contractor table saws that my friends use, this is the one that stands out; this is the table saw that I use most, and I rarely hear of problems from others, which given the number of people who have these, it says a lot.

When I’m in need of a portable table saw, this is the one I reach for. For me, the DeWalt DW745 is packed with safety features, and being powerful and very versatile is why it’s my go-to choice.

So there you have it, my top 5 reasons; now on to the real review…

I think this is the best portable table saw for the money. I think you’ll be hard-pressed to find anything better in its price range.

Ok, one drawback is that it can’t accept dado blades, but it is fast to set up, easy to use, and in my experience, trouble-free.

Even the blade guard is easy to use. The number of people I see using table saws without the blade guard, anti-kickback pawls, and even the riving knife is rather frightening. All we’re saying is that it takes too much time and effort to set up their tools.

For me, tool safety is number one, and if you took 5 minutes to read some OSHA accident reports, I’m sure you would agree.

No matter how much care and attention you take, power tools are never completely risk-free, but DeWalt has made an excellent blade guard, and all their safety accessories are quick and very easy to use. There really isn’t an excuse not to be safe.

If you are looking for a new compact table saw and are still wondering if you should buy the DW745, well, look, for me, you should buy this; it really is that good. Unless that is, most of your cuts are dado blade cuts, but not many table saws with such a small footprint can take a dado stack.

If you are still hesitant, maybe it’s not the right table saw for you; well, DeWalt’s warranty policies offer you a 90-day money-back guarantee.

“If you are not completely satisfied with the performance of your DEWALT Power Tool, Laser, or Nailer for any reason, you can return it within 90 days from the date of purchase with a receipt for a full refund – no questions asked.”

Look, I’ve not returned a DeWalt tool because I’ve never had any issues, but I would caution you somewhat in that returning larger tools could possibly be a hassle, but I can’t imagine it not working out for you if you did.

Oh, and if you don’t send it back and you keep it, you get a three-year warranty.

So do you get with this portable package?

  • A compact design coming in at 22.7 by 29.2 by 16.7 inches.
  • A lightweight table saw weighing only 45 lbs.
  • A 15-amp, 1.75 Hp powerful motor, providing powerful performance
  • a 10-inch, 24 tooth carbide saw blade
  • 3850 RPM no-load speed
  • a 2.5-inch dust port
  • An amazing fence rails system that ensures the fence stays square
  • Quick and clean cuts
  • Steel roll cage which provides better durability compared to plastic bases
  • A raft of safety features with one of the best blade guards out there
  • A push stick, convenient guarding system, miter guard, and an excellent dust collection port.

The DeWalt DW745 10 inch table saw offers onboard storage, accurate performance, excellent dust collection port, which does a rather good job of collecting dust when paired up with a decent shop vac.

Not something most table saws can claim.

Despite its compact size, this is a good table saw with a powerful motor that will chew through pressure-treated lumber with ease. Hell, I’d go as far as to say that the DeWalt DW745 10 inch table saw is a great saw.

Thanks to the secret upgrade, it now comes with a larger rip capacity; it was 16″; it now has a 20″ maximum depth of rip capacity.

This portable saw can make accurate cuts when utilizing the miter gauge, thanks to its quick bevel lock. I don’t know about you, but when I’m on the job site, it’s a bit of a pain to switch between a 90-degree and 45-degree cut, even with a decent miter gauge. It takes a lot of effort to make sure that the angle is right. Not with this bevel lock! Switching is quick, easy, and accurate.

It has a great miter gauge which is accurate and makes changing the bevel easy, not something most table saws can claim in this category. This is a great feature for those who make a lot of bevel cuts.

The dust collection system keeps your work area dust-free.

It has storage bays for its accessories, such as the push stick; even the power cord can be rolled around some posts to keep it tidy. It really is a portable design.

The standard miter slots will accept most aftermarket accessories. If you want to remove or attach the blade guard, you will need to remove the throat plate.

So who is this table saw designed for?

The DeWalt DW745 table saw is aimed at job site professionals and DIY’ers alike. This is perfect for job-site work and for home use. The blade guard and included push stick just show what the DeWalt DW745 it’s safety features are there to make it stand out.

Take, for example, the site pro modular guarding system. The pro modular guarding system makes it very easy to set up the saw for various uses, thanks to the tool-free modification of its guarding components. It really does remove the whole. It’s too much effort argument.

DEWALT 10-Inch Table Saw, 16-Inch Rip Capacity (DW745)

Some important stuff to bear in mind, though, is that this table saw doesn’t do well with stacked cutting; if you stack multiple layers of wood, such as a few sheet goods, you may find that when the saw is 95% or so through, the saw blade will lock up.

This is because the blade has been bound from both sides by the wood preventing the blade from moving in a circular motion; a riving knife will help with this, though.

This is the DeWalt table saw you need if you are looking to take your carpentry skills to the next level.

FAQ

Which table saw is better, DeWalt or Bosch?

This is one of those questions you just have to expect; hell, if it isn’t asked, you have to double-check to make sure the person has really looked over the market.

For me, they are both reliable table saws, and both will do you proud. You need to look over what it is you are looking to do, but both of these brands offer top-notch options; that said, DeWalt table saws tend to include a more powerful motor.
