Making the choice between pressure washer brands is difficult, even more so when you are looking at Greenworks VS Ryobi Pressure Washers, well at least for me, I’ve got tools from brands that work really well and such I’m instantly drawn to that brand, though over the years I’ve found that while the brand is good for the tool I love it for, it doesn’t mean it’s the best brand for the new tool.
In a hurry? Well it’s simple both brands are great, if you need a lightweight portable pressure washer then Greenworks has you covered, if however you want something with some guts, but a lower gpm then Ryobi is for you, however if you want quick connect nozzle tips, and something that will clean all around the house, something that packs big PSI numbers and large GPM, then the /emGPW2200 is for you and in this list vs Ryobi it wins.
So these days I compare brands to find the best tool for the job, I don’t have brand loyalty because I want the best.
So Greenworks versus Ryobi.. Which produces the better pressure washer? Which is going to help us keep our outdoors as tidy as our indoors?
Keeping the indoors clean is a relatively simple exercise that does not involve much more than a vacuum cleaner and a few mops and brooms. However, the real challenge is the external part of your house.
Here you will have to contend against hardened bird droppings, grime, muck, dirt, and mold. And all of them will have to be taken care of regularly.
You will need a proper set of outdoor cleaning tools to get the job done right the first time over.
This is the part where a powerful and durable pressure washer comes into the picture. In fact, with the right equipment, it is possible to turn a tedious chore into a fun outdoor activity.
However, choosing the perfect pressure washer for your specific outdoor needs can be a tricky proposition. This is because there are many different factors that you have to take into consideration.
For example, the washer has to be powerful enough to remove molds and stains on your wood fence, but at the same time, it should not be so abrasive that it damages your car’s paint.
Let us check out a few models of the two most well-known brands – Ryobi and Greenworks.
Both of these companies have different models that can be used for various tasks around your home. Ultimately, which company and model you choose will be dependent on your specific usage and the utility that you may be able to derive from the product.
The Greenworks Brand: A Young Company with a Big Footprint
Greenworks was created in 2007. It has its main HQ in Mooresville, North Carolina. In the past few years, it has continued to grow in size and quality.
Its parent company is Globe Tools Group. However, Greenworks has forged an enviable reputation in its own right. This is primarily because of the quality and functionality of its products.
As far as manufacturing companies go, Greenworks success is based on the fact that it keeps ahead of the needs of the target market. They can do so thanks to their aggressive market research as well as constant work on improving the features and quality of their products.
In 2010, they decided to introduce a powerful line of electric outdoor power cleaning equipment for their budget-conscious customers.
These machines have been created for fulfilling the needs of those residential consumers who wanted a powerful but lightweight and portable pressure washing solution without the fumes, noise, and the hassle of operating large gas-powered units.
- 1500 psi at 1.2 gallons per minute for maximum cleaning power. Pwma certified
- Quick connect wand comes with variable nozzle for a variety of cleaning applications
- 20 feet high pressure hose for greater reach
The first machine on my list is the Greenworks 1500 PSI 13 Amp 1.2 GPM High-Pressure Washer. If light cleaning is what you have in mind – this device takes the cake, which is why it’s featured on my entry level power washer article.
This thing is easy to assemble, and thanks to it’s firm base, it’s incredibly stable when stood up. A key feature is that it can be used both horizontally and vertically. This makes most pressure washing chores very easy.
This Greenworks pressure washer comes with a high powered turbo nozzle that helps to make up for the low pounds per square inch (PSI). With the help of this nozzle, you can make short work of cleaning various surfaces such as your driveway the patio and even the external facade of your house.
The unit comes with a very long cord when compared to other pressure washers – 35 feet in length. This power cord has been equipped with an inline GFCI fail-safe safety measure. This means it is safe for use on all exterior outlets.
The machine’s power hose can easily reach up to a maximum of 20 feet, which makes it ideal for single-story houses. It can also clean the slats and the gutters easily. However, it is not long enough for a multi-story structure.
The unit weighs only 18.4 pounds so it can easily be carried around. The 25 and 40-degree quick connect tips have been designed to ensure that the unit is suitable for cleaning many different surfaces.
It also has a removable detergent tank that allows the operator to fill it up with the specific detergent required for the job at hand. This detergent tank can also be easily washed post use.
This is a portable model, and it’s compact, lightweight design makes it easy to move it around and store it. It’s a great option if you are looking for a light machine usually under $100. This small-sized Greenworks pressure washer is shipped with a one-year warranty.
- 1500 PSI : 1.2 GPM will blast through grime and dirt to restore your surfaces
- VERSATILE : Can be used vertically or horizontally for greater stability
- 20 FT PRESSURE HOSE : provides greater reach without sacrificing power
This is a slightly powerful version of the Greenworks 1500 PSI AMP. It boasts 1.2 gallons of water flow per minute. Your average garden hose is no match for this machine since it can easily wash away any amount of dirt and grime. From patio furniture to your deck and your new car, you can use it for everything.
The 1700 pound per square inch of pressure is not too powerful to be overly abrasive, this is still a light duty machine, but at the same time, everyday dirt does not stand a chance against it.
It is equipped with its own hose reel so that you will be able to pack up and store this unit with ease. Since it is electric, it is not as noisy as a gas-powered pressure washer and is, therefore, a much better choice for your house and the environment in general.
Like most other units in its class, it has both 25 and 40-degrees quick connect hose tips for widespread utility across a cross-section of surfaces.
It is also equipped with an easily removable detergent tank. You can use it to fill an assortment of different detergents for different jobs. The tank can also be washed and stored separately from the main unit.
Like most other Greenworks pressure washers, this unit is also equipped with a 35-feet power cord that has an inline GFCI safety system for use with exterior electricity outlets.
This unit can also be used both horizontally and vertically, like its many other Greenwood pressure washers. This pressure washer is excellent value for money.
- Powerful 14A Brushless motor generates 2200 psi and 2. 3 gallons per minute for maximum cleaning power. Pwma certified
- Metal quick connect wand comes with 15°, 25°, 40°, soap, and turbo nozzle. Tangle-Free Hose Included
- Onboard detergent tank conveniently stores soap for easy application
If you are looking for a powerful electric pressure washer then this is it. this is the most powerful greenworks pressure washer on this list.
This has a 14A brushless induction motor, which has been designed to last longer than your typical universal pressure washer pump. The GPW2200 is a heavy hitter, now it’s not a heavy duty machine, it’s a medium duty machine that produces 2200 PSI and a flow rate of 2.3 GPM that gives you a total cleaning power of 5060!
If that’s not enough for your Lowes has a 2300 version of this pressure washer. But trust me, this thing will blast through any dirt and grime your can throw at it.
This is a top of the line electric power washer, in fact, I think it’s up there as one of the best electric units around. This thing is a breeze to move around thanks to it’s rugged steel frame, padded handle and those large no-flat 8-inch wheels.
While this and all the pressure washers on this list can’t compete in power against gas pressure washers, that’s not to say it’s not a great or event best pressure washer for your needs.
This is a easy to use pressure washer, featuring 4 quick connect nozzle tips a 5°, 25°, 40°, soap and a turbo nozzle. You also get an onboard detergent tank to work with that soap nozzle.
When it comes to using this thing for cleaning, well nothing could be easier, with it’s spray wand you’ll make easy work of jobs like cleaning your decking, house siding, concrete, cars, there really isn’t a job you can’t do, other than perhaps stripping paint as the water pressure just isn’t high enough.
You’d want to use one of the gas models to achieve that, well that is unless you attach the hose to a wet sandblasting kit, even at 2200 psi that’s a perfect number when using an abrasive medium so rust and paint can be dealt with, with this medium duty power washer.
The Ryobi Brand: A One Stop Solution for Hardcore DIY-ers
Ryobi prides itself on being a company made for and by the DIY-enthusiast crowd – people who just love tinkering around the house and making their own enhancements and innovations.
In fact, they are proud of their DIY bloodline and have created their own social network of like-minded enthusiasts. It is known as the “Ryobi Nation.”
This sort of cooperation also gives an added layer of security to enthusiasts who have never used power tools before. In fact, this network acts as a platform that attracts both newbies and experienced enthusiasts alike and also enables them to advise and guide each other while comparing their different projects.
The platform is a repository of knowledge that can help other Ryobi Nation members. In fact, the brand takes great pride in supporting small-time inventors and patent makers as their patron.
Apart from that, the company also has its own standard business model. It relies on keeping its ears close to the ground regarding the latest innovations in the power tools world.
The Ryobi Line of Pressure Washers
The company offers something for everyone in their Ryobi pressure washing range. From small electric hand-held pressure washers to raw-power gasoline guzzlers, it has everything.
The brand also puts a lot of emphasis on the availability of spare parts. Moreover, they also offer quick and highly effective support for all after-sales issues.
If you can’t decide which pressure washer is best for you, then the good people at Ryobi will tell you the electric pressure washers that are ideal for washing porches and cars which is very true when it comes to electric models.
But if you want a bit more muscle such as washing the sidings, paint stripping, concrete driveways, and cleaning rocky and marble surfaces, then a gasoline-powered pressure washer would be just the thing for you.
Some of their most popular models include the following:
- 2,000-PSI 1.2 GPM for efficient cleaning of residential areas
- Powerful 13 Amp electric motor
- Pressure technology delivers maximum cleaning power
This is a pretty strong ryobi pressure washer when you consider the fact that it is actually electric and not a gas-operated pressure washer.
It churns out 2000 PSI thanks to its massive 13-amp electric motor. This translates to 1.2 gallons per minute. It can handle all light to medium cleaning tasks with equal ease.
This robust pressure washer is pretty big but also surprisingly lightweight for its size. It weighs around 32 pounds and comes with a wheel-equipped chassis that you can use to trundle the unit around. Its powerful electric engine is adequately protected by a hard and durable metal frame.
The unit’s body is topped with a foam-coated handle as well as the washer’s hose reel.
The machine has been thoughtfully equipped with a hand-cranked spindle to store the cord, thus eliminating ungainly knots and the hassle of storing the power cord with the machine.
This particular model has a 25-feet long, high-pressure hose and three different quick-connect nozzle tips. They include a 15-degree, a turbo nozzle, and a soap nozzle.
Ryobi claims that their turbo nozzle can enhance the overall quality of washing by up to fifty percent or so. You have to be extra careful with the turbo nozzle because it can easily break fragile stuff such as cane furniture and glass utensils.
While the machine is a medium-duty pressure washer, it can still handle some of the most stubborn stains with success. You can use it on glass, wood, patio marble, and garden gnomes and furniture.
This isn’t the cheapest product in the market, but its size and power are adequate for its price.
- Features a High Performance Brushless Electric Induction Motor Included Bonus Turbo Nozzle Delivers 50% Faster cleaning Performance Tested and Rated in Accordance with PWMA Standards
This is a electric powered pressure washer that allows you to indulge in both medium some heavy-duty cleaning tasks.
The combination translates into a washing power of up to 2300 PSI at a massive 1.2 gpm. However, all this pressure means more weight, giving you a cleaning power of 2760.
At 56.2 pounds, this unit is no feather-weight. But its wheeled-chassis gives it a high degree of mobility over most other types of external surfaces including concrete driveways and grass.
This unit is shipped with a 25-feet long pressure hose that is easy to store when the unit is not in use.
The unit also has a large soap tank that is attached to its bottom side while the engine has been mounted on top of the heavy-duty metal frame.
Ryobi’s Warranty
As a general rule, the company gives all purchasers a standard three-year warranty on its pressure washers as far as electric washers are concerned.
Apart from that, it also offers a separate two-year warranty on the engines of its gas-powered models. If you have any problems getting your pressure washer to start check this out.
Greenworks Vs Ryobi Pressure Washers
There is no hard and fast winner here. This is because they both have their own respective functions and models. While on the fact of it Ryobi is throwing out some big hitters, there medium duty pressure washers all sport heavy duty PSI numbers.
But as you can see on this list, the greenworks pressure washer also packs a large PSI number, but also backs that up with a strong GPM number. Greenworks have created a range of small, portable and light duty machines, on top of there medium duty electric power washer, so there’s an option for you no matter the task.
Ryobi has been around since 1943 and is a beautiful blend of traditional and modern values.
Greenworks is a relatively new and upcoming company, and they have carved their own niche based on their ‘state of the art’ technology and low prices.
As you’ll see in the conclusion for me, on this list, Greenworks vs Ryobi.. well the Greenworks pressure washer wins.
If you need more punch, something 3000 PSI and above, then you’ll need to look at a gas powered pressure washer and there is a Ryobi pressure washer which is gas powered.
Conclusion
Personally, for my needs I’d end up with the Greenworks this is just the best overall, I prefer a machine which packs more of a punch and while the when you compare the Ryobi vs Greenworks in terms of PSI then vs greenworks, Ryobi wins on this list. But that’s not the only number, The greenworks GPW2200 uses 2.3 GPM that’s a lot of water being expelled under force. Vs Ryobi and it’s 1.2 GPM well, the Ryobi is just the weaker option.
So factoring in cleaning power, and the fact that Greenworks makes some of the best pressure washers, well that cleaning power, Greenworks vs Ryobi… The Greenworks GPW2200 wins it.
Don’t get me wrong they are both fantastic machines, but in the battle of Ryobi Vs Greenworks
