This may not factor into your equation quite as much if you only need the saw for at home use, but if you want a table saw for various job sites, portability is definitely an issue.
One thing to keep in mind here is the size and weight of the saw.The smaller and lighter it is the more portable it will be, but it will likely sacrifice some power and capacity.
The Right Accessories
Another thing to consider before purchasing any table saw is if it comes with all of the necessary accessories that you need to finish virtually any job.
Some things that any good table saw should come with a miter slot and miter gauge, a fence, a dust collection system, and maybe even a laser guiding system for accurate cuts.
All of these items will definitely make life easier, most of which you would have to buy anyway if the saw you get does not come with them.
Something that is fairly important to consider does have to do with the size of the saw.
While the saw you get may be fairly small and compact, it should ideally have an extension table, something which will make it much easier to work on longer work pieces.
An extension table is convenient because it lets you enlarge your workspace while also keeping the overall design of the table saw as compact as can be.
Yet another thing to look out for before buying any table saw is the adjustability of it.
Things like the miter gauge, the fence, the blade elevation, and the angle of the blade should all be able to adjust to various positions or angles to accommodate the job at hand.
Moreover, all adjustments should be easy to make with the simple turn of a dial or lever. The more your table saw can adjust in various manners the more you will be able to do with it.
Power & Capacity
Now this does depend on what kind of jobs you need the table saw for. A saw with a lower cutting capacity and a lower power (or RPM) level will do just for smaller around the house jobs.
However, if you are a contractor and need the saw for various purposes, you should consider a table saw with a high power output as well as a high cutting capacity.
The final thing to consider when buying a table saw is how safe it is to use. Things like a blade guard, a push stick, an emergency shut off, and an emergency brake all things you should look for in a table saw.
- Cut boards up to 3-9/16 inches deep with a 26-inch ripping capacity

The WEN 3720 Table Saw has many different features that make it an excellent jobsite table saw, so let’s talk about all of them in a little more detail.
One of the things that make the WEN Table Saw stand out from the rest of the pack is that it has a very high cutting capacity.
When the blade is facing straight up at a 90-degree angle, the WEN can cut through pieces as thick as 3 – 9/16 inches, and when the blade is at a 45-degree angle it can cut through pieces as thick as 2 – 1/2 inches. This particular table saw also has a 26-inch ripping capacity.
All of these things mean that this saw is very versatile regarding being able to cut thin and thick workpieces.
A Good Motor
The WEN 3720 features a fantastic 15 AMP motor that delivers a whole lot of power for whatever job is at hand.
This motor makes the 10 inch carbide tipped blade spin at an excess on 4,400 rounds per minute.
Lots Of Space
Another feature that makes this table saw a great find is that it features a dual extending table.
Working on large pieces or long boards can be fairly difficult with a small or medium sized table saw, especially because not having enough room can end up causing kick back and be quite dangerous.
Well, the WEN solves that problem by having two extending tables, one on each side of the table.
One of the tables is on the front of the saw to make cross cutting large pieces easier, and one of the tables extends the out feed to make doing long cuts much safer and simpler.
A Versatile Blade
Yet another thing that is so neat about the WEN 3720 is that it has a beveling blade. The blade can be beveled anywhere from a vertical 90 degrees to 45 degrees, making this saw ideal for doing angled cuts.
Plus beveling the blade is done with the simply turn of the knob to make this tool very user friendly.
Moreover, in case you need to make dados and rabbets, the single saw blade can be replaced with a dado blade set so you can create dado joints and grooves with ease.
Extra Storage Space
The next thing that might make you consider theWEN 3720 is all of the extra onboard storage space that it comes with.
This table saw lets you store accessories such as your rip stick, miter gauge, wrenches, and a few other things by mounting them in various specially designed spots.
It’s a great innovation because the onboard storage means that you don’t need to bring along an extra tool box just to operate the table saw.
A Ton Of Accessories
Something else that makes the WEN 3720 a great table saw is how it comes with a variety of useful accessories.
One of these accessories is a much needed fence that can be easily moved and locked down without issue, something that will let you guide your wood through the blade when making long cuts.
The WEN also comes with a sliding miter so you can accurately make cross cuts, plus it can be moved to various angles to accommodate angled crosscuts.
This table saw also comes with a dust collection port so you can hook up a sawdust collection system to reduce mess, something that you and your clients will definitely appreciate.
In fact, the saw actually comes with a dust collection system to reduce mess. This thing even comes with a push stick so that you can keep your fingers safe and free from harm at all times.
The WEN also features a nifty blade guard to keep your fingers away from the blade as much as possible.
Perhaps one of the best features of this saw has to do with its portability. This saw is not the lightest around, coming it at over 70 pounds, but it does have one crucial feature that increases its portability drastically, that being the rolling stand.
The rolling stand actually has two great uses, one being that it serves as a ready to go stand so you can set up the table saw in any location, and the other being that it can easily fold up in just a few seconds.
The table can be folded up with the saw still on it, and the wheels it includes lets you easily move it from one spot to another without having to lift up the whole saw.
Not everybody likes the same things and not everybody has the same needs, which is why you might not be too pleased with the WEN 3720, but fear not because we have some great alternatives for you to look at.

The SawStop does not have the same extension capabilities as the SawStop, but the SawStop has some advanced safety features as well as highly versatile accessories which the WEN does not have.
The Rockwell RK7241S is the final alternative to the WEN that we want to mention, and it is a decent one indeed.
The Rockwell has slightly more power and a higher RPM blade speed than the WEN, and it also has virtually the same cutting capacity.
